AVAYA

"Senior Technician Surplus"

On Thursday, July 31, 2008, the Union was notified by the Company of their intention to surplus employees in the title of Senior Technician. The Company notified the impacted employees on Friday, August 1, 2008. The last day on the payroll for the surplus is September 29, 2008.

A stipulated agreement, which applies only to the Senior Technicians declared surplus, between CWA/IBEW and Avaya has been established that will allow anyone who wishes, to take the enhanced OTP offer.

The Company and the Unions has further agreed to waive the $42,500 cap on Optional Termination Pay under the Avaya Career Transition Option Program (ACTOP) on a one-time, non-precedent setting basis.

"EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT"

Congratulations to Stewards Bonnie Barrett and Richard Whirley who collected over 60 cards, and took over 60 photos of members during the rally, in support of the One Million Member Mobilization campaign to urge passage of the Employee Free Choice Act. If you have not yet filled out a card or taken a photo, please contact the Local office.

"VERIZON HEALTH CARE TRAINING"

Steward Marc Pretto facilitates the Verizon health care training. This training provides our members at Verizon awareness of the history, and possible future of their health care benefits at Verizon. This gives our members a real view of what is really at stake during this round of negotiations. Thanks to Marc, for a job well done.
