Boot Camp was again conducted on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 with member activists of Local 2336. This training was the first phase of the Union’s effort to build an Army of activists that will reignite the vigor and muscle of the labor movement—muscle that is required to make necessary changes for workers in this country. This training will take place again in June. Any member or retiree interested in attending this training should contact the Local on 202 291-1500.

EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT

"Grassroots Efforts Continue"

CWA and IBEW are continuing to mobilize thousands of members into action in support of the Employee Free Choice Act. Since the November election we have come a long way towards passage of EFCA, which would restore bargaining and organizing rights stripped away over the past 50 years by aggressive anti-union management and an apathetic or hostile US government.

Today, collective bargaining coverage in the US is far below that of any other industrial democracy, leaving us on the defensive regarding health care, jobs, retirement, and even the union itself.

Through our expansive strategic campaigns and new alliances, we can make real progress on our big issues. We can continue to build a political movement rooted in our own lives, our communities, our hopes and dreams. Call your Senators and express your concern for the passage of the Employee Free Choice Act.

SIX FLAGS AMERICA

S.U.N. DRAWING

"May Membership Meeting"

Had John A. Bender, a cable splicing technician out of the Fairland Data Center, been in attendance to the May membership meeting, he would have been $1,095.75 richer.
