PLACE OF THE MEETING—TO BE ANNOUNCED

FAREWELL TO A FRIEND

"Verizon Retiree and Past Vice President of Local 2336"

Audrell Galery, past Vice President of Local 2336 and Verizon retiree, a true champion of labor, friend and trusted confidant, transitioned to be with the Lord on Thursday night, November 15, 2007.

Services for Audrell will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the St. Anthony’s

Catholic Church on 1029 Monroe Street NE, Washington D.C. 20018. The Wake will begin at 10 a.m. and the funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with interment at the Fort Lincoln Cemetery. Repast will follow at the Church.

Expressions of sympathy can be sent to her husband, Willard Galery, at 1614 Monroe Street NE, Washington, D.C. 20018.

VERIZON COMMUNICATIONS

"Associate Inter-Company Transfer Plan (AITP)"

Modifications of this plan that would have been effective November 1, 2007 have been delayed until the April/May 2008 timeframe.

Under the modified plan, employees will no longer submit manual AITP transfer requests. Instead, Mid-Atlantic associates will have the ability to view and apply for individual New York/New England positions as they are posted in VZCareers and on the voice portal with no limit to the number of positions the employee may apply for. This also applies to associates from New York/New England applying for Mid-Atlantic jobs.

A communication to employees providing instruction and explanation of any changes will be shared in advance of their publication.

"Retiree Support"

We urge every retiree to support themselves by supporting their Union in the fight for Retiree respect. You have not forgotten the many years, as a Union member, you fought and even went on strike to keep medical and other benefits. Nothing has changed.

At this round of bargaining, CWA will stand against the national trend of taking back from Retirees and we ask you to stand with us. If you are going to work at something at this stage of your life, then work for you. Join us at 202 291-1500.

WORKING AMERICA

"Community Affiliate of the AFL-CIO"

Working America, the community affiliate of the AFL-CIO, is the fastest growing organization for working people in the country. With two million members organized in its first 4 years, Working America recruits and mobilizes people who do not have a union on the job to fight for good jobs, affordable health care, secure retirement, world-class education, and more.

  • Working America seeks a Director of Development to head a multi-million dollar fundraising campaign. It is a senior-level position reporting to the Executive Director. The Director of Development is responsible for the strategic development, implementation and analysis of a development program for Working America.
  • Working America also seeks a Project Coordinator to lead and execute special projects related to Working America’s national communications, organizing and issue campaigns. The Project coordinator will help manage day-to-day needs of national recruitment and mobilization efforts.

To apply for either of these positions, please email a resume and cover letter to WorkAmerJobs@aflcio.org, or fax a resume and cover letter to 202 508-6900.
